Miracle Babies

Up to 30% of couples facing infertility receive the diagnosis of unexplained infertility. This diagnosis is given when routine fertility evaluations for both partners show no apparent issues or abnormalities that could be identified as the cause of their difficulty in conceiving. Despite thorough testing and evaluations, the reason behind their infertility remains unknown.

The cost of fertility treatments, including assisted reproductive technologies (ART), can vary significantly based on several factors, including the type of treatment, the clinic's location, individual circumstances, and any additional procedures or medications needed. Here's an approximate breakdown of costs for some common fertility treatments in the United States:

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): The cost for one cycle of IUI can range from $300 to $1,000, excluding medication costs.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): IVF is one of the more expensive fertility treatments. On average, a single IVF cycle can cost between $12,000 to $15,000. This cost typically includes monitoring, egg retrieval, embryo culture, and embryo transfer. Medications can add several thousand dollars to the total cost.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): If ICSI is required during IVF, it can add an additional $1,000 to $2,000 to the total cost per cycle.

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET): The cost of a frozen embryo transfer cycle can range from $3,000 to $5,000, excluding medication costs.

Donor Eggs or Sperm: Using donor gametes can significantly increase the overall cost of treatment. Donor egg IVF cycles can cost between $25,000 to $40,000 or more per cycle.

Surrogacy: Costs associated with surrogacy, including legal fees, agency fees, and medical expenses, can exceed $100,000.

** These costs are approximate and can vary widely based on geographic location, individual clinic pricing, insurance coverage, additional procedures, medications, and the need for multiple treatment cycles.

These costs could be tens of thousands out of pocket for those receiving multiple cycles and therapies with no guarantee of success.

About Me

After years of trying to get pregnant "the traditional way" without success I realized something needed to change. I was frustrated and desperate to achieve my dream of motherhood.

My sister had a child and was pregnant again. Same with my cousin.

Why couldn’t I get pregnant? Is there something wrong with me? Is it my partner?

A million questions ran through my mind and a million emotions too. I could feel the stress like a ton of bricks descending on me. I knew that wasn’t helping my chances.

I sought professional help through assisted reproductive therapy at a fertility clinic. My doctor and her staff were great and raised my hopes that I could become pregnant. Several IUI and IVF cycles later and having experienced the heartache of two miscarriages I was exhausted and at my emotional all time low.

The book takes the reader through my personal journey of dealing with unexplained infertility and how I eventually overcame it.  It details how I found strength by empowering myself with knowledge and took action to eventually become pregnant. Not once but twice and gave birth to my miracle babies.

It is an inspirational story that details how my husband and I became parents and created a recipe for others to follow.

In the least you will learn about the process of assisted reproductive therapy we went through and the lifestyle changes we made to improve reproductive health. Maybe it can help you or someone you love.
